Feldenkrais

with Stuart Verity

Thursdays, 6-7pm – Studio 2

What is Feldenkrais?

The Method works by heightening our awareness of movement, breathing and posture, the Feldenkrais Method brings us closer to realising our full human potential.

What are the benefits?

Relief from tension and muscular pain.
Easier and fuller breathing.
Greater relaxation and well-being.
Improved performance in sport, dance, music and drama.
Greater ease in everyday activities.

What are Individual Functional Integration sessions?

Each session revolves around a question: how do your habits of movement help you, but at the same time get in the way of functioning with greater ease. Each session is designed by the practitioner to address your particular habits of moving and holding yourself. Your increased self-awareness allows you to let go of the outmoded habits, to find and choose new patterns of movement, feeling and thinking. The sessions often lead to suggestions by the practitioner for ways of working on your own, in order to help the new choices become a lasting part of your life.

What are individual and group Awareness Through Movement classes? I have often asked fellow Feldenkrais students and teachers to sum up in a few words a way of describing a Feldenkrais ATM class. The replies are as follows:

Soft Gymnastics
Intelligent yoga
Thinking Persons yoga
Self-administered physiotherapy
Moving meditation
Flexible body Flexible minds practice
Intelligent exercise for personal growth
